Ferrosilicon furnace is a type of ore-heat furnace, which is a high-temperature furnace used to smelt ferrosilicon alloy.
Ferrosilicon is an important alloy material, widely used in the steel industry, mainly used to improve the properties and strength of steel. The main function of the ferrosilicon ore-heat furnace is to reduce the oxides in silicon and iron ore by high temperature to form ferrosilicon alloy.
Smelting Characteristics of Ferrosilicon Furnace
1) Smelting process:
Ferrosilicon smelting usually uses electric arc furnace or submerged arc furnace, using electric arc or high temperature to heat and reduce the raw materials.
2) Raw material composition:
The main raw materials of ferrosilicon include iron ore, silica and coke. Through high-temperature reduction reaction, oxygen is removed to form ferrosilicon.
3) Energy efficiency:
Modern ferrosilicon submerged arc furnaces focus on energy saving, using optimized operating parameters and efficient furnace wall materials to reduce energy consumption and improve smelting efficiency.
4) Use high-quality combined carbonaceous reducing agent:
When smelting ferrosilicon, metallurgical coke is mainly used as a reducing agent, and it is matched with gas coal coke, semi-coke or bituminous coal, which can improve energy efficiency and save 200 to 300 kilowatt-hours (kwh) per ton of ferrosilicon products.
5) Selection of refractory materials:
Ferrosilicon furnace need to use refractory materials and thermal insulation materials with high refractoriness, high strength, corrosion resistance, good rapid cooling and heating performance, large heat capacity, and small thermal conductivity and volume expansion coefficient.
6) Continuous operation method:
Smelting ferrosilicon generally uses a mineral heating furnace, which is produced by a continuous operation method. The characteristic of this method is that as the charge reacts and melts continuously after being subjected to high temperature, the charge level drops accordingly, and new charge is continuously added to keep the charge in the furnace at a certain height.
7) Environment & safety:
With the strengthening of environmental protection regulations, the design and operation of ferrosilicon submerged arc furnaces are also paying more and more attention to emission reduction and waste treatment to reduce the impact on the environment.
In the process of producing ferrosilicon, the smelting furnace not only has high technical requirements, but also requires certain management and operation experience to ensure the stability of production and the quality of the product.

Ladle refining of refining furnace, also known as off-furnace refining, is a process in which molten steel, after primary refining in a converter or electric furnace, is transferred to a ladle for secondary refining. This process involves deoxidation, desulfurization, composition adjustment, and temperature control.
