Electric arc furnace smelting of carbon steel is a steelmaking method that uses the heat generated by electric arc to melt metal and produce carbon steel.
It converts electrical energy into heat energy through the arc generated between the graphite electrode and the charge, and performs the melting and smelting process in the electric arc furnaces.
Compared with traditional converter steelmaking, this method has the advantages of lower energy consumption, less pollution, and strong adaptability to raw materials.

The Main Steps of Electric Arc Furnace Smelting Carbon Steel
1. Charge preparation:
Load scrap steel, ferroalloys, flux and other charges into the electric arc furnace according to a certain ratio.
2. Power on melting:
Turn on the power supply to generate an arc between the graphite electrode and the charge, and use the high temperature of the arc to melt the charge.
3. Smelting process:
During the melting process, the chemical composition and temperature of the molten steel are controlled by adjusting the atmosphere in the furnace, adding alloy elements, and performing dephosphorization and desulfurization operations.
4. Steelmaking:
When the molten steel meets the requirements, the molten steel is discharged from the electric arc furnaces for subsequent casting and processing.
Features of Steelmaking Electric Arc Furnace
Flexible & controllable:
EAF can adjust the atmosphere in the furnace as needed to facilitate the control of the composition and quality of the molten steel.
Environmental protection & energy saving:
Compared with the long process of blast furnace-converter, the short process steelmaking electric arc furnace has the advantages of low energy consumption and low emissions.
Strong adaptability:
The electric arc furnaces can use a variety of raw materials such as scrap steel and direct reduced iron, and has strong adaptability.
High production efficiency:
With the continuous development of technology, the production efficiency of steelmaking electric arc furnace is also constantly improving.
Electric arc furnace smelting carbon steel plays an important role in the modern steel industry, especially in short process steelmaking, it has obvious advantages.

Ladle refining of refining furnace, also known as off-furnace refining, is a process in which molten steel, after primary refining in a converter or electric furnace, is transferred to a ladle for secondary refining. This process involves deoxidation, desulfurization, composition adjustment, and temperature control.
