Ladle refining furnace refers to equipment that has the heating and refining functions of steelmaking furnace. It is an important metallurgical equipment used to refine the molten steel from the primary refining furnace (arc furnace, open hearth furnace, converter), and can adjust the temperature of the molten steel, process buffer, and meet the requirements of continuous casting and continuous rolling.
Ladle furnace is one of the main equipment for refining outside the furnace.

Process of Ladle Refining Furnace
After the molten steel tank enters the station, 500-800kg of lime and a certain amount of flux slag are added, and then heated, and the heating gear is not changed during the heating process.
If there is no LF refining furnace, due to the heat loss in the traditional ladle refining process, the steelmaking furnace is usually required to provide a higher tap temperature. Ladle refining of liquid metal is a mature technology that can produce high-quality steel.
Functions of LF Refining Furnace
1. Heating & heat preservation of molten steel.
Molten steel obtains new heat energy through arc heating, which not only enables the addition of alloys and adjustment of composition during ladle refining, but also the addition of slag, which is convenient for deep desulfurization and deoxidation of molten steel. Moreover, the pouring temperature of molten steel required by continuous casting is guaranteed, which is conducive to improving the quality of dry casting.
2. Argon stirring function.
Argon is blown into the molten steel through the air-permeable bricks installed at the bottom of the ladle, and the molten steel obtains a certain stirring function.
3. Vacuum degassing function.
After the ladle is hoisted into the vacuum tank, a steam jet pump is used for vacuum degassing. At the same time, argon is blown into the bottom of the ladle to stir the molten steel, which can remove the hydrogen and nitrogen content in the molten steel, and further reduce the oxygen and sulfur content, and finally obtain a higher purity molten steel and a material with superior performance.
4. LRF is used for desulfurized steel,
removing other impurities, and keeping the molten steel for casting operations.
5. The ladle refining furnace also plays a buffering role between the steelmaking furnace and the continuous casting machine, reducing the casting cost and making the steelmaking operation more flexible.
6. The application of the LF refining furnace can at least increase the following benefits for the entire enterprise: speed up the production rhythm and improve the overall metallurgical production efficiency.

Ladle refining of refining furnace, also known as off-furnace refining, is a process in which molten steel, after primary refining in a converter or electric furnace, is transferred to a ladle for secondary refining. This process involves deoxidation, desulfurization, composition adjustment, and temperature control.
